At Maranatha Christian Academy, we offer students the chance to take university-level courses while remaining at Maranatha’s campus. The College Board, the organization which creators the SAT, asserts, “AP courses give you a head start on college while you’re still in the supportive environment of a high school classroom. Taking the end-of-course AP exam sends a powerful message to colleges and universities that you’re ready for them, and can enable you to gain admission, college credit, and placement into advanced courses.”*
MCA currently offers five Advanced Placement (AP) courses:
Language and Composition
Literature and Composition
United States History
In addition, MCA offers two College in the Schools (CIS) class taught by a university professor on the Maranatha campus. Completing these classes automatically earn the student college credits that are transferable to many other universities. Maranatha currently offers CIS Economics and CIS Accounting. The Dean of Academics and International Student Program Coordinator will provide academic counselling to guide students through the process of choosing the proper classes and when to do so.
